So I currently have an HP laptop, 17 inch screen and full sized keyboard, not the lightest thing in the world to carry around, but powerful and functional.

Whenever the time comes to replace the existing laptop, I'm wondering if I should get another laptop or downsize to a netbook? Does anyone currently have
a netbook, and can you tell me what you like and what you dislike about it? What would you change about it, if you could?

you are right - there are so many reviews that tell you yes or no depending on what one you're reading. since i only wanted to surf the net and do some
letters or excel offline i chose the acer inspire because it was only $300. windows xp operating system, 160 gb hard drive, 1 gm ram and it was pink so that
was pretty much the selling point - LOL but when using the keyboard you have to keep your elbows to your side and put your hands close in order to hit the keys
in a relatively mistake free manner. but for chatting, surfing and the likes it is fine. and light and small - can throw it in your pocket book or carry it in
a little neoprene case. can you tell i'm biased to my new toy?

The biggest complaint is the keyboard. Too small for someone used to a regular keyboard or big fingers.
The other concern is the operating system. Windows vs Linux, the difference can be as much as $150 between the two (Linux being the cheapest).

All the big names have a version out (Dell , Lenovo, Asus, Samsung, MSI), each has its pros and cons. The choice is based on what you want to pay for
Operating System (Windows vs Linux) and features, or simply name recognition.

There are a whole host of websites (enough to get a sane person confused) that compare notebooks vs netbooks and then the different flavours of netbooks.

I have a 17" Dell Laptop and it is so heavy. Just recently bought a 9" Acer Inspire I think it is and I love it. While I couldn't draft a civil
design subdivision on it, I have regular computers for that. I sit on my deck with it and it's great. Only problem is the little keyboard. You have to keep
your fingers tight together but it's great otherwise. I take it on vacation, just throw it in my pocketbook and I got the one with the 6 hour battery and
to tell you the truth the screen is brighter and better than my larger laptop.
