The Arizona in Hawaii is a National Park. Have you been there? It is the most somber moment I may have ever had. I can talk a blue streak until I got on that
boat that takes you out the The Arizona. Everything just gets quiet and you walk through it whispering - in awe of the men and women who endured that attack.
If you are going, the tickets are free but you have to get in line. We got there by 7 AM and were the 3rd group in when they opened. When we came out the line
was so long I couldn't see the end of it. The survivors walk amongst you and are so happy to talk with you. Unfortunately, every year there are less of
them. God Bless them.

We've only been there once (because we've only been to Hawaii once), back in 1995. Rebecca was 5 years old at the time, but she remembers the USS
Arizona.
The memorials in DC for the Vietnam and Korean Wars move me, but the USS Arizona strikes me deeper. And I honestly cannot put into words why. Susan Schaefer, MCC, DS, CSS

susan - i have been to the memorials in DC and the Arizona was just so moving. I too can't describe what was different about it but it is. Although I must
tell you that many years ago I worked at a building in NYC that put a Vietnam memorial in the space between the 2 buildings and it was very touching and no
matter when you went outside there would be a veteran or 2 at the least sitting there. One day I was having a really bad day at work so I went downstairs to
have a cigarette and just destress when a veteran wheeled over to me and handed me a sad face pin that said P.O.W.'s never have a good day. It put
everything in perspective for me and I went back upstairs to work with a whole different attitude.
